How to get parents to read school messages, and reply
Most unread messages are not ignored. They are lost among too many others. Fewer, clearer messages get read.
Send less, but better
- One clear subject: what it is about and what you need
- The action first: “Please answer by Friday”
- Short: the details below, not above
Reach every family
Not every parent uses the same app or reads email. Send each family where they will see it: the app, email or text, and keep a record of who has seen it.
Make answering easy
- A form they can answer on their phone in a minute
- A gentle reminder to those who have not answered, not to everyone
- A thank you when they do
Know who has seen it
With toddlepath, posts and forms show who has seen and answered them, families not on the app answer from a private link, and reminders go only to those still to answer.
